Lou Baker
Chief Executive Officer

Lou Baker founded Baker Development in 2014, after co-founding Goodier Baker and growing the company from its infancy to $4 million in revenue in its first full year (2010) to $12 million in revenue in 2012. Prior to Goodier Baker, Lou spent the previous 14 years working for Pulte Homes. He was the president of the Maryland and Southern Delaware Division for the past 7 years. Lou also led the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia Division for a year and a half after the divisions were merged into the Mid-Atlantic Division in January 2008. He is a past president of the Home Builders Association of Maryland. Lou has been honored with the Homebuilding Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Maryland Life Magazine, and was named the Homebuilder of the Year in 2008 by the Homebuilders Association of Maryland. Lou is heavily involved in charitable activities, including the American Diabetes Association, Habitat for Humanity, Johns Hopkins Children’s House, Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation, Lombardi Cancer Institute, Ronald McDonald House, and the George L. Baker, Jr. Scholarship Fund. Lou earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Loyola College and received a Certified Public Accountant license in 1986. He lives in Lutherville, Maryland with his wife and two children.

Mike McCann
President

Prior to joining Baker Development, Mike McCann spent ten years with national homebuilder, Pulte Homes, as the Mid-Atlantic Division Director of Land Acquisitions and Entitlement, covering Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, DC.  He was accountable for land assets and development in excess of $750M. Before joining the ranks of a national homebuilder, Mike spent 13 years working as a project engineer for Fisher, Collins & Carter, Inc, a civil engineering firm located in Howard County, Maryland. Mike serves on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Maryland, and is also a Maryland Real Estate Broker, licensed since 1992. Throughout his career, Mike has successfully created communities of every size, scope and type, including residential, mixed-use, infill, redevelopment, age-restricted, resort, water-oriented, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Mike was born, raised and educated in Maryland, and remains involved with charitable activities including Johns Hopkins Children’s House and the Special Olympics of Maryland.

Kathy Baker
Chief Financial Officer

Kathy is a graduate of Loyola College. She started her career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche.  After her time at Deloitte, Kathy was in charge of financial reporting for McCrory Stores.  She then served as Assistant Controller for a Baltimore-based company that provides marketing, products and creative services to nonprofit clients in the United States and Canada.  She and her family moved to Northern Virginia in 1998, where she took a position as Assistant Controller with Comsearch, a provider of spectrum management and wireless engineering products and services.  She left the work force in 1999 to start a family. As our CFO, Kathy is responsible all aspects of accounting and financial reporting.

John Pierce
Senior Project Manager

John started his land development career in 1992 with Gray and Son Inc., a large general contractor in Baltimore County, as a laborer. When he left Gray and Son in 2003 he had taken on the duties as an Estimator Project Manager. John joined Pulte Homes – Maryland Division and served as the Contracts Administrator and Operations Manager for the Land Development Department serving Maryland and Delaware, and ultimately served as the Contracts Manager for the Mid Atlantic Division in Virginia. He was responsible for land development contracting, budgeting, and construction of assets exceeding $325 million. In 2010 he joined Richmond American Homes as a Land Development Project Manager and was responsible for the development and bond release of over 40 projects from Northern New Jersey to Western Pennsylvania to Southern Maryland. In April of 2012 John joined Goodier Baker Homes as a Land Project Manager. Now at Baker Developer, John is responsible for the budgeting, contracting and development of the communities in the our portfolio.  John has worked with charitable organizations such as Toys for Tots, The American Red Cross, Johns Hopkins Children Center and Habitat for Humanity.
